On May 10 we attended the XX International Day of Information Security organized by ISMS Forum under the title of “Cybersecurity and Privacy’s challenges in a data-driven economy” in Madrid.
In this event, the main concerns that affect our sector were addressed, such as the application of the new European Regulation on Data Protection , the status of the Data Protection Law Project or the corporate management of cyber-resilience. The former Director of the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) said that the adaptation and approval of the new Spanish law on Data Protection will be ready by the end of this year. (It is currently in parliamentary procedure with more than 300 amendments presented).
On the other hand, aspects such as the application of cyberintelligence in access controls, security management in disruptive technologies, and the challenges of cybersecurity in critical areas (IoT, Industry 4.0, connected car …), have been analyzed. among other topics of interest.
We would like to highlight the presentation and vision of Paula Walsh (Head of Cyber Policy at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the UK) regarding various Security topics:
- It is expected that in the next two years there will be an C1 category incident (Mayor category, similar to Wannacry and Not-Petya) in the UK and with a global impact.
- Governments must talk and share information about the source and impact of incidents. (As Wannacry), since they usually tend to be of a political nature, and better act as a group against these threats than individually.
- Specialized Personnel in Cybersecurity: Resources are scarce. How will we create an attractive and real career?
