Today we interviewed Liliana Madilene Fernandez, member of our IS consulting team. We hope you can learn about her experience working in our company.
What is your role at Inprosec?
Currently, I perform several roles at Inprosec. I belong to the IS department, but I also participate in SAP projects. Additionally, I handle tasks related to the ISMS and support activities involving Power BI.
What would you highlight about your role in the company?
I would highlight the opportunity to work in different areas, most of which are new to me. Teamwork is also crucial, and it’s fascinating to see how each person contributes their experience and perspective to achieve a common goal.
What has Inprosec meant for your professional career?
For me, Inprosec has been the beginning of my professional career, as I joined to do my internship and was given the opportunity to stay on the team. This experience is helping me explore new worlds that I didn’t know about and that are very interesting, such as cybersecurity.
How do you manage to balance personal and professional life?
Balancing is easy for me because Inprosec offers a lot of flexibility with schedules. Additionally, in my case, I don’t live in Vigo, but being able to work remotely three days a week allows me to perfectly balance my personal and professional life.
What do you value most about working at a company like Inprosec?
Since I joined Inprosec, I’ve always highly valued the atmosphere among employees and their willingness to help newcomers. I find this very important, especially in cases like mine, where I joined without any prior experience in this field, and I’ve always felt very welcomed.
Tell us an anecdote that stood out to you during your time at Inprosec.
An anecdote that comes to mind happened one day during lunch. A colleague and I went to pick up our food and left the keys with another colleague so he could enter. There was no one else in the office except for him, and when we returned, we spent 20 minutes ringing the doorbell without any response, unable to understand why he wouldn’t let us in. It turned out he didn’t know how to use the electronic lock, and all the time we were ringing the doorbell, he was at the office door trying to figure out how to open it.
As an employee of a cybersecurity-focused company, what advice would you give to any entrepreneur starting out regarding their systems?
My advice would be to think about information security from the beginning and not treat it as a secondary concern. Cybersecurity is a fundamental pillar for any business today, and I believe it doesn’t always get the importance it deserves.
What are your hobbies after the workday?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my friends and engaging in outdoor or out-of-home activities. Additionally, whenever possible, I love traveling and discovering new places.
Who do you “nominate” for us to interview next and why?
I nominate Adolfo, as we’ve been working together a lot lately, and I think his interview could be interesting.
