Today at Inprosec Human Capital we present Tamara Rivera, consultant specializing in SAP Security and SAP GRC.

What is your function within Inprosec?

I started working at Inprosec in March 2015 and since then I have been part of the SAP department as a consultant specializing in SAP security and SAP GRC.

The company has a hierarchical structure where each person who enters has a direct manager who will guide and support him/her in his/her learning process and for a couple of years I was given the opportunity to develop this function, which I can say is one of the most rewarding tasks.

During this last year I have started to manage projects related mainly to SAP security and strategic internal projects.

What would you highlight about your role in the company?

During my time at Inprosec, I could say that a large part of my time has been spent executing and managing “Role Model Reengineering” projects. These projects are usually of long duration where the impact on the end users is very great. For this reason, the relationship with the client is very direct and constant throughout the project, in some cases asking us to carry out the deployments in person at their facilities, thus providing greater security at the time of any setback that may arise.

We are proud that once these projects are completed a very high percentage of clients give us their recurrent support service, as there is no better example of the good work we have done than the client wanting to continue working with us permanently.

What has Inprosec meant to your professional career?

At the study level I studied Business Administration and Management and later I did a master’s degree in Finance. My first job opportunity was in the finance department of a company that used SAP. The truth is that I fell in love with how unintuitive and “user friendly” the system is and how it makes you learn something new every day.

When I finished the internship year I had no doubt that I wanted to look for a job related to SAP. It’s true that I never thought I would end up being part of this crazy world of consulting, which has little or nothing to do with that career or master’s degree in finance I did, but I’m very proud of the path I’ve taken.

In response to the question, I have been with Inprosec for more than five years now and as a result I can say that at the level of my career and development as a professional, Inprosec has meant everything.

How do you manage to reconcile your personal and professional life?

It is true that on a general level, consultancy work, like many others, does not go hand in hand with the reconciliation of personal life due to the large number of hours of effort required. But in the long run this pace of life is unsustainable and I think that is something that Inprosec is very clear about and therefore gives us a lot of flexibility in all aspects.

Personally, my passion is travelling and since I entered Inprosec until March this year (for obvious reasons) I have been able to enjoy each and every one of my vacation days to go with my partner or friends on a trip. This is thanks to the fact that I can divide my days as I want, combining them with holidays or weekends and being able to align myself with other people’s holiday availability or the best price offers.

In addition, we have always had a lot of time flexibility and willingness to work from home whenever we wanted, which makes it much easier to reconcile work and personal life

Tell us an anecdote that has caught your attention at some stage in Inprosec.

I believe that Inprosec places a lot of trust and responsibility in its employees from the outset, which leads to growth as a professional in leaps and bounds. I will never forget when I had been with the company for 3-4 months and was told that I was going to a cement factory in the middle of India to do a deployment for a “Role Model Reengineering” project, which I told you about earlier.

The truth is that when I arrived I don’t know who had more speed face saying “where I got to” because, among other things, as you can imagine there was not a single woman working there, or they saying “but she is smaller than my daughter”. To say that everything went fantastic and it was an unforgettable experience.

What do you value most about working for a company like Inprosec?

Six months after joining the company we celebrated in style the five years of the company and this one we have already done 10. I really appreciate having the opportunity to see a company grow, and to be able to do my bit to make this happen. I value being listened to, feeling that they trust me and being able to talk openly about any issue or situation because you know they will understand and support you.

I value the team we have, the support we give each other and that you always have someone willing to help, the truth is that we are a good team where no one is better than anyone else and where we help each other shine.

As an employee of a company that specializes in cybersecurity, what is your advice to any entrepreneur who is starting out with respect to their systems?

I believe that more and more importance is being given to the issue of safety, but it is true that in many cases they only remember us when they have seen the wolf’s ears or as a requirement to pass the audits. It’s a shame that with all the effort it takes to get a company up and running, they are taking unnecessary risks by not allocating resources to managing their security.

What are your hobbies at the end of the working day?

As I said before, my biggest hobby is travelling and of course, as a good Galician, going for tapas and beers with friends. The truth is that with this COVID has touched to reinvent itself and seek other alternatives of “Leisure”, but with much desire that this ends and recover old hobbies.

Who do you “nominate” to interview next and why?

Of course my nominee is Estefania Vaquero, my partner in the university (she can explain that the title of ADE did not come in a bag of “Chaskis”), a hard worker and an unconditional friend. I’m sure he’s looking forward to this interview and giving us more visibility from the project department.
