Interview with Miguel Fonte

Today at Inprosec Human Capital we introduce you to Miguel Fonte, SAP consultant of the Inprosec team.

What is your function within Inprosec?

My role within Inprosec would be that of SAP Consultant, mainly collaborating in SAP Security & SAP GRC projects and services, although I have also collaborated in several internal projects for the improvement of processes within the department.

What would you highlight about your role in the company?

What I would highlight most within my role is the possibility to work and collaborate directly with end users, especially in services. This part of the job is especially stimulating as the learning is continuous and it is also extremely satisfying to be able to help other people in the incidents that may arise and collaborate with them to solve their problems.

What has Inprosec meant to your professional career?

Inprosec has meant a lot in my professional career, since previously I had only had one work experience and it was not related to SAP, despite this, from Inprosec they bet on me and gave me the confidence and support I needed to enter this world. In addition to this, this job is an opportunity to get to know in depth the exciting world of SAP, where every day you learn new and interesting things, which allows you to develop and improve professionally every day.

How do you manage to reconcile your personal and professional life?

One of the things I value the most and I find differences between Inprosec and the vast majority of companies are the facilities and flexibility with which the company allows employees to work, giving the possibility to organize and manage the working day with great autonomy and eliminating the usual rigidity of schedules in companies, which makes it difficult to reconcile work and personal life.

Unlike other colleagues, I do not have children or dependents, but I also greatly value the facilities provided by the company to reconcile work and personal life, and in the future, it is an option that seems essential to me and I believe that Inprosec is, in this aspect and in many others, a company ahead of its time.

Tell us an anecdote that has caught your attention at some stage in Inprosec.

During one of my first months at Inprosec, when I was starting to support projects by performing role management tasks, I was assigned a task that consisted of making sure that the accesses that were going to be assigned to the end users worked correctly, before these users started working with them. I remember that after doing the work, in the review with the person supervising the task, we realized that I had omitted a very obvious detail that invalidated the analysis I had done, so the work was not valid and had to be redone.

Finally, instead of throwing the mistake in my face, I felt very supported and they explained again what the mistake was and trained me again to understand the reason for the mistake and to understand the reason for doing the analysis in that way, emphasizing that the important thing was that I learned the reason for the mistake and what that detail implied, not so much that I memorized a procedure without understanding it.

What do you value most about working for a company like Inprosec?

The part that I value most about working in this company is the continuous support and communication between the members of the staff, focusing on helping colleagues as much as possible and creating a good working environment, which I think is essential for a company to function in the best way.

I have been able to feel this support and good atmosphere despite the current situation and the fact that, in my case, I have only physically met my colleagues during my first month in the company, since my career at Inprosec began in February last year. I am therefore looking forward to the situation returning to normal as well so that I can enjoy more direct contact with the rest of my colleagues, sharing space on a daily basis.

As an employee of a company that specializes in cybersecurity, what is your advice to any entrepreneur who is starting out with respect to their systems?

My main advice to an entrepreneur would be to train all the company’s staff in terms of cybersecurity, as many times people tend not to give importance to this issue until a serious incident happens and the problem has already been caused with no possibility to solve it.

In my opinion, I think it is extremely important this training so that the whole company knows the importance of complying with certain policies and good practices in relation to this issue, since many times these incidents occur due to ignorance and for not giving the necessary relevance to cybersecurity until it is too late to act.

What are your hobbies at the end of the working day?

My main hobby has always been sports, since I was little I have played different sports such as soccer, judo or tennis, and nowadays I really enjoy going to the gym or running outdoors, because besides keeping you in shape I consider that exercising helps me to relax and disconnect after work.

On the other hand, other of my hobbies would be to meet up with my friends, especially on weekends, to have a drink and tell us about our week, watch series or play video games.

Who do you “nominate” to interview next and why?

I’m going to nominate Paula, since she is a person who joined Inprosec almost at the same time as me and we have shared some projects, so I’m looking forward to hearing her answers.
