The seventeenth edition of the International Security Meeting, 17ENISE, organized by the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE), was held last week. On October 18 and 19 at the León Exhibition Palace. After two complicated years for holding in-person events, and a 16ENISE that served as a kick-start, we attended another unrestricted edition to fully enjoy the networking generated at the event.

The event offered a complete program of presentations in the cybersecurity field for two days. In addition, the International Business Forum was held this year, an incredible opportunity that brought together different business leaders, experts in internationalization, and prominent professionals from the cybersecurity industry. Thanks to this, it became a unique opportunity for discussion and exchange of ideas and knowledge on innovation, internationalization and the latest trends in the sector. If you want to know more about the event, you can access our summaries of previous editions, like that of 16ENISE on the InprOTech website.

This year Iago Fortes and Inés Lamas attended, who were able to witness different presentations and discussion tables. Among which stand out:

  • Internationalization of SMEs in the cybersecurity sector, given by José María Blasco, Director of Infrastructure, Health and ICT, ICEX; Pablo Peláez Aller, Executive President Plain Concepts; Verónica Serna Garrido, Operations Director, CFI Group; Nathalie Dahan García, Head of Strategic Partnerships, GMV and moderated by Ana Ayerbe, CORES / DIGITAL Area Director at Tecnalia.

This table analyzed how the Spanish cybersecurity sector underestimates itself against the international market, the difficulty of cybersecurity services sales cycles and the preparation of SMEs to compete outside national territory.

  • Cybersecurity and AI in the deployment of corporate tools, given by Elena García, CISO of Indra; Jorge Blanco, Director of the Office of the CISO, Google; Fernando Rubio, Responsible for cybersecurity Customer Success, Microsoft Spain; Angel Pérez, CISO of Highways; Jose Palacio Santana, Global Head of Detect. Banco Santander and Carlos A. Saiz, Director of the Data Privacy Institute, Was moderated by Roberto Baratta, Director of Loss Prevention, Business Continuity and Security, and DPO, Abanca.

Here it was discussed how the use of artificial intelligence can help in the use of certain corporate tools, streamlining processes and being itself, a more permeable tool in the industry without this implying the replacement of other assets. At the same time, the risks that the use of these tools may entail in terms of cybersecurity aspects, such as the loss of control of the information destined for the employability of artificial intelligence, were discussed.

In conclusion, we were pleased with this year’s organization. 17ENISE presented itself as a very solid event, with a strong international presence and a good opportunity for networking, where the importance of aid to the national company in cybersecurity matters was also highlighted, demonstrating the importance of the sector in recent years.
